In 2022, the audition show produced by YOSHIKI, called "YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X," kicked off.
The show featured star-studded guest judges from Japan and abroad, including KISS’s Gene Simmons, internationally renowned soprano Sarah Brightman, Michael Jackson’s "THIS IS IT" choreographer Travis Payne, and HYDE. From the very first episode, the show announced the qualifiers—an unprecedented move that generated significant buzz on social media.
On June 30, 2023, the group made their major debut with the YOSHIKI-produced track "CRAZY LOVE," released by Avex.
Despite some member changes after that, the group continued their journey as XY with eight members: HAYATO, JAY, KANJI, KICE, P→★, RAIA, KOSEI, and MITCHY.
